President's December 2009 piece
By Wadi Nadzri

The Ghost’s of Christmas past & future, be good or Santa will not come, be kind to your neighbor, do unto others as you would have done unto you.…

In so many cultures across the world, there exists this ‘natural law’, an underlying ‘Karma’ to the way we behave. But does being good to other people really mean that good things will happen to you?

The question in turn asks what is good and what is bad? Being good in your mind may mean running down the street with nothing on but your birthday suit, it might however be interepreted by your kind neighbour as bad, perhaps even mad.

So who defines the lines? Santa? The Law? Common Sense?

You can be bad without breaking the Law. You can often be good contrary to common sense. And it all starts to get really confusing when they say “it is sometimes Good to be Bad”???

Perhaps what we really need to do is to look in to our own hearts and feel what is the right thing to do. Use the “Force” for good and not evil. Often it can be the hardest thing to do, but you will never regret doing what was right in your heart.

The Christmas break provides the opportunity for us to pause from the grind and sit back and contemplate what is it all for… Is it for gifts, cars, and fancy bras? As Buddha would say “All the material possessions of the world will not make a person happy”.

We use this time to be with family and friends. We spend this time with the people that are around us, that share our lives with us. What better way of being with each other than knowing that you have done what was right in your heart? So from all of us at QYL we wish you a safe, happy and “good” Christmas & New Year.

Peace Out!
