President's February 2010 piece
By Wadi Nadzri
The Lads and Ladettes to Lawyers 2 (aka ’LL2L2’ and perhaps better than naming it ‘iLaw 2.0’) was a great evening and a fantastic way to kick start the year, whilst earning a respectable 1.5 cpd points. The evening presented young lawyers with the basics of etiquette in professional networking, instilling skills to be hopefully utilised for upcoming events and in particular our upcoming Speed Networking event.
Often as young lawyers we move through the phase where merely completing work may not be enough. As we gain experience it is useful to get to know people in the professional community as it can provide the opportunity to gain sources of referrals and clients. Speed Networking on 24 March is your chance to get to know ambitious young professionals from diverse industries in a format that takes the pressure out of “breaking the ice”. We look forward to seeing you there.
This year is really shaping up to be a great one and QYL are working furiously towards taking our calendar of the events to the next level. On this note I would like to extend a great big ‘Thank You’ and ‘Much Respects’ to our committee and the efforts they invest with little reward towards making everything come together.
Of course these efforts go nowhere without the support of our members and we truly appreciate everyone’s attendances and backing of this independent and progressive organisation.
